Teaching clock
A free clock for the classroom or the kitchen table. Drag either hand: the long hand moves the short hand, just as on a real clock.
3:15
quarter past three
Use the arrow keys to move the time by the snap step, and Page Up or Page Down to move it by an hour.
Ways to use it
- Set a time, hide the time, and ask the class to read the clock.
- Read out a time and ask a child to come and set it.
- Turn on Past and to to show which half of the hour the long hand is in.
- Snap to 1 hour for o'clock, 30 minutes for half past, and 15 minutes for quarters.
- Turn the long hand right round and watch the short hand move on by one number.
- Wind on past midnight or midday and watch the sky change, for am and pm.
The same clock as the app
This is the clock from Clockwork Station, a calm railway game for children aged 5 to 10 that teaches telling the time line by line, with spoken help that names each mistake.
In the app, the clock tool is free and works offline, full screen on iPad.
